Dunedin: After counting thousands of votes, for the first time in the five year history of the Otago Polytechnic People's Choice Awards, it was a draw!

Congratulations to Otago Polytechnic People’s Choice 2021 winners:

  • Tsai Feng Chou from Shih Chien University, Taiwan

  • Cindy Alhadeff and Martina Pavia from University of Buenos Aires, Argentina

The prize money will be split equally between the two winners, with Tsai Feng Chou receiving $NZ500 and Argentinean design duo Cindy Alhadeff and Martina Pavia sharing $NZ500.

Tsai Feng Chou’s collection ‘Goldfish Unknow’ emphasises the lightness, delicate beauty, symmetry and perfection of goldfish. The collection emphasises the sense of suffocation and oppression of being trapped on an aquarium-like stage. Instagram: @f.z_815

Cindy Alhadeff and Martina Pavias collection No-Made is a critical yet ironic look at the Argentine neo-nomad with neo-pop style, referencing the Argentinian gaucho. The collection draws upon tailoring, leather, sportswear, nightwear, techwear and Prêt-a-porter, deconstructing and merging all these techniques into each garment. Instagram @nomade.bsas

Announcing the winners Professor of Fashion, Otago Polytechnic and iD Dunedin Fashion Inc. Chair Dr Margo Barton, expressed her gratitude to supporters and volunteers who made the Awards and this year’s successful iD Fashion Weekend possible.
