Meet the iD Board

Charlotte Moran, iD Board Member and Principal, Reid Cooper Gray.

Charlotte has served on the iD Board for nine years and recently played a key role in successfully transitioning iD from an Incorporated Society to a Charitable Trust. The iD Board is extremely grateful for the time, expertise, and commitment that Charlotte and the team at Reid Cooper Gray have contributed throughout this process.

What do you love most about Dunedin fashion?

I love that Dunedin residents and designers have their own distinct style. I also think that for a city of our size, we have so many talented designers who are either from Dunedin or start out here and go on to share their work all over the world.

If you could attend any fashion event in the world, what would it be?

I would love to just watch the people go into the MET gala or attend the Mittelmoda Award Show in Milan to see how they do it.

The International Emerging Designers Awards has grown into a very prestigious competition, how would you like to see it develop in coming years?

I have been lucky enough to attend the Emerging Designer Awards since its conception. Over the years I have seen it grow in size, welcome designers from all over New Zealand and the world whilst also consciously promoting inclusion, diversity, and sustainability. I would love to see it continue to gather support from our community and move forward on that trajectory. Many hours of volunteer work go into the production of the Awards and it would be great to have ongoing financial support and the ability to become self-sustainable in the future, so that iD can continue to promote the advancement and education of emerging designers in New Zealand.

What favourite New Zealand designers do you wear most?

I couldn’t choose a favourite designer, as they are all so great. However, I think it is a characteristic of New Zealand designers to take pride in producing quality pieces that stand the test of time.
