Samantha Saint James: 2023 iD International Emerging Designer Finalist

Get to know Samantha Saint James, the mastermind behind Australian label ‘Not a Man’s Dream’.

Since graduating from the Whitehouse Institute of Design in 2021, Samantha has gone on to win Next Gen at Australian Fashion Week, show at both Melbourne Fashion Festival and Melbourne Fashion Week, and become a finalist at the 2023 iD International Emerging Designer Awards. Between award wins and runway appearances, she’s collaborated with an impressive lineup of Australian A-listers including Havana Brown, Jaguar Jonze, What So Not and HAKUhands, among others.

Alongside this, Samantha’s designs have been featured in It’s Interval magazine, including the imagery pictured here.

Currently based between Sydney and Melbourne, Samantha’s label Not a Man’s Dream is a sustainable and ethical fashion brand that merges art and fashion to create expressive, statement-making pieces. Rooted in individuality and self-expression, the brand challenges traditional norms through bold design, while prioritising eco-friendly materials, ethical production practices, and collaboration with local artisans. Each collection tells a story, celebrating creativity, diversity, and fashion with purpose, all while caring for people and the planet.
