Prompted by an exploration of the designer’s heritage and identity, INDOMITABLE portrays the intriguing interplay of Scotland’s long struggle against British oppression and women in their ongoing battle for gender equality. Each piece unpacks various theories of feminist dress and Scottish folklore. Jagged thistles replace floral motifs; garments adorned in weathered chain hardware and tarnished jewellery; the power suit merged with traditional evening silhouettes, and the sporran used in various unconventional ways. Auld Scotland Tartan fabric was specially imported from Lochcarron to be used alongside laser etched tartan identifying the clans.
