MITO
MITO is a collection striving to return a sense of mysticism to a world where capitalism is king. The designers have imbued their garments with the extraordinary myths told by the Mapuche - a tribe of indigenous people in Argentina and Chile who are edging closer to extinction.
Full wrap around silhouettes pay homage to the Mapuche’s belief that textiles have a life of their own and should not be cut. Modern techniques of embroidery, using recycled scraps of fabric spun into yarn, have been combined with the traditional craft of three-dimensional tapestries to create a collection using sustainable methods of construction.
