GOROKA

A menswear collection exploring the effect of post colonialism by looking at what would happen if a distant culture was placed in an English Boarding school, the designer chose the Goroka tribe from New Guiana, one of the endangered tribes around the world. By combining apparel typical of boarding school types and occasions (the rebel, the jock, graduation outfit and everyday school wear) with tribal attributes, the resulting absurdity creates a humorous comment on the hard truth of western control and influence.
