MADELEINE JOST

SO WE CAN REMEMBER

Fashion is viewed as objects of memory with the innate power to hold memory or spark recollection in this collection which consists of garments, accessories and shoes. Predominately through textile manipulation, this body of work examines the relationships between memory, the home, and the dressed body. Textiles are hailed as vessels for explorations into three stages of memory: retention, disintegration and preservation. Expressions of ‘memory’ are explored with constant reference to upholstery fabrics and furnishing techniques, symbolizing the home.
