I THOUGHT I’D SEEN IT ALL BUT I HADN’T SEEN THAT

Primarily driven by exploring different materials and inspired by utilising unexpected materials not often found within fashion, this collection recycles items such as unravelled secondhand jumpers for embroidery thread, laser cut bike inner tube and metal clips from Bic lighters.

The collection creates a new aesthetic, contrasting traditional hand embellishments and modern technology. 3D printed jewellery and laser cut accessories are created using the designer’s paintings, digital prints are developed by moving illustrations across a photocopier, a reference to how punk zines were made. Traditional hand embroidery is updated and reimagined, hand painting is used in a similar way, featuring words and quotes taken from both the internet and the modern subcultures the designer exists within. The work creates a clash of old and new subcultures, exploring youth now and throughout history.
