KATE SYLVESTER

For Winter 2019, Kate Sylvester pays homage to Frances Hodgkins—painter and pioneer.

Celebrated in both New Zealand and abroad, Frances was highly contemporary and innovative, inspired by the new with a constantly evolving style.

With thanks to Te Papa, Kate Sylvester had the opportunity to realise as finished prints, a series of textile designs created by Frances in the 1920s, and build a collection around these beautiful jewels.

Frances never stayed still, and neither should Kate Sylvester’s work.
