JASPER MCGILVRAY

Exploring the extremes of masculinity and femininity, this collection references a variety of different ideas, from British drinking culture, to vintage Schiaparelli pieces, to Mike Tyson alongside the designer’s personal connection to North England; traditions and engrained ‘norms’. Using techniques such as applique, beading and decoration (normally found in glamorous womenswear), the designer aims to incorporate ‘girly’, cute and overtly feminine aspects to clash with the traditionally ‘masculine’ domains of sport and pub culture. Beaded beermat embellished flared trousers and beaded quilted muscle chest puffer jackets combine an awkward clash of these cultures, while remaining fun and joyful.
