HELENA BAJAJ LARSEN

Recent graduate of New York’s Parsons School of Design and nominee for multiple emerging designer prizes, Helena Bajaj Larsen focuses on art-like textiles as well as in depth surface exploration through jewellery. The brand’s core sensibility lies in the interaction between hand and material - every piece is about textural processes and treatments.

The Franco-Indian-Norwegian designer's collection is a showcase of minimalist silhouettes contrasting with intricate hand-painted textiles in colour tones ranging from sharp metallics to earthy autumnal hues and silent grays. Each piece is one-of-a-kind as the print is 100 percent manually done, using acid and pigment textile dyes and a range of different tools allowing for a variety of surface applications. The fabrics encompass a wide selection of silks, cottons and wool, making the clothing versatile and fitting for different seasons. Helena hopes to take the idea of high-end craftsmanship and put a contemporary spin on it, swaying it away from traditional textile techniques and motifs, while drifting towards a more abstract outcome.
