Emerging Designers

ENTRY FORM

At the bottom of this page you will find our online entry form, but before you proceed please read through the following so that you can prepare your entry correctly:

Your general info
Include your full name as it appears on your passport (and name you preferred to be called, if this is different), your contact details; your label name (if applicable); your college/university or tertiary institution, your lecturer’s name and their contact details; the full name of qualification you received when your graduated or will receive when you graduate; how many models required (there is a five maximum per collection). You will also need your collection statement, your designer biography and information on how sustainability informed your design (see below). 


Your collection statement (400 words maximum) 
This is what the judging panel will review to understand your design inspiration, techniques, materials and the hallmarks of your design style.  It will appear in the event programme for the runway show and on this website for the audience to read.


Sustainability (200 words maximum)
Explain how you incorporated sustainability in your design and how consideration of sustainability influenced your design.


Models

We champion diversity and inclusivity in fashion. To that end, if you have requirements such as size, ethnicity and age diversity for your models we will try to accommodate this. Note all models must be 16 and older.


Your Designer biography (200 words maximum)
Include information on previous notable works and achievements as well as your future aspirations for your career in the fashion industry.  


Your multipage PDF
You must prepare a multipage A4 PDF (maximum of 8 pages) containing the following:

  1. High resolution hero image of your garment being modelled for programme and website, eg of model(s) in collection outfit or detail view as desired. Must be suitable for print media. Please ensure this is PORTRAIT orientation. You must own the copyright on this image.

  2. Front view of your collection

  3. Back view of your collection

  4. Technical drawings and fabric descriptions for each outfit in the collection

  5. Technical drawings and fabric descriptions for each outfit in the collection

  6. > 8. Designers choice– optional. If you wish, add in other images of your collection or previous work for the jurors, please include information about the image for example as shown at NZ Fashion Week 2018; or this is from my previous collection in 2017

Please note: pages 1 > 5 are compulsory, page 6 > 8 are optional.

How to label your PDF
Name your file as follows: first name_surname_institution_country
E.g. 'Taylor_Smith_Otago Polytechnic_New Zealand'

Handy hints

  1. Make sure the judges are able to understand your collection through the images you select.

  2. If you created the fabrics, accessories etc. in the design, please ensure you state this in the collection statement.

  3. If you are selected as a finalist, you must also provide HIGH RESOLUTION imagery 300dpi at A4 size. We will get in touch about this via email.

  4. Remember that if your collection is selected as a finalist, then you must attend the iD International Emerging Designer Awards. So you must be prepared to cover the costs of your flights and accommodation to and from Dunedin, New Zealand.
